Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the importance of interactive learning in enhancing student engagement in elementary schools through a literature review approach. This study also aims to identify the role of interactive learning strategies and media in improving students’ behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement during the learning process.

Method: This study employed a literature review method by analyzing various relevant scientific articles published in indexed national journals from 2020 to 2025. Data were collected through the processes of identification, selection, analysis, and synthesis of studies related to interactive learning and student engagement in elementary schools. The articles were obtained from Google Scholar and SINTA-indexed journals using keywords such as interactive learning, student engagement, educational technology, and elementary school.

Result: The findings revealed that interactive learning plays a significant role in enhancing student engagement in various aspects of learning. The use of interactive media such as learning videos, digital platforms, social media, learning applications, and interactive e-books has been proven to increase students’ participation, attention, motivation, collaboration, and understanding of learning materials. In addition, interactive learning creates a more engaging, active, and student-centered learning environment.

Conclusion: Interactive learning plays an important role in improving the quality of the learning process and student engagement in elementary schools. Therefore, teachers are expected to integrate various interactive media and technology-based learning strategies to create active, meaningful, and effective learning experiences for students.
