Peer Review Policy

All submitted manuscripts to Jurnal Humaniora Universal Indonesia (Universal Humanities Journal) will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of the published articles.

Initial Editorial Review

Submitted manuscripts are first pre-reviewed by the editors to determine whether they comply with the journal’s scope, submission guidelines, writing style, and publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s criteria or fall outside the journal’s focus will be rejected promptly without being sent for external review.

At this stage, all manuscripts are also subjected to a similarity check using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). Manuscripts containing plagiarism or excessive similarity, including self-plagiarism, will be returned to the author(s) or rejected. Proper quotations and appropriate citations are mandatory.

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial review will be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in relevant fields. Reviewers are asked to assess:

  • The scientific and academic quality of the manuscript

  • The originality and contribution to the field of humaniora and related disciplines

  • The clarity, coherence, and methodological soundness

  • The relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s readership

The editors ensure that reviewers assigned to a manuscript have no conflict of interest during the review process.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editors will make one of the following decisions:

  • Rejected

  • Requires major revision

  • Requires minor revision

  • Accepted

The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Humaniora Universal Indonesia (Universal Humanities Journal).
