Objective
This study aims to analyze the digital transformation of guidance and counseling (BK) services in the Society 5.0 era, particularly regarding the opportunities, challenges, and implementation of the TECH-BK model in educational settings.
Method
This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a systematic literature review method. Data sources consisted of 25 national and international journal articles published between 2019 and 2024, indexed in Google Scholar. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques adapted from Braun and Clarke to identify patterns related to digital transformation, implementation benefits, and emerging challenges in digital-based BK services.
Results
The findings reveal that the integration of digital technology in BK services has transformed four major aspects: service delivery media, documentation systems, assessment instruments, and service outreach. Digital counseling platforms, artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted tools, and learning management system (LMS) integration significantly improve service accessibility, counselor efficiency, documentation quality, and student engagement. However, several challenges remain, including counselors’ digital literacy gaps, ethical and data privacy concerns, unequal digital infrastructure, and cultural resistance toward online counseling practices. This study also proposes the TECH-BK model consisting of four pillars: competence, ethics, context, and humanization as a conceptual framework for implementing sustainable and human-centered digital counseling services.
Conclusion
The digitalization of BK services in the Society 5.0 era provides significant opportunities to enhance educational counseling services in Indonesia. Nevertheless, successful implementation requires strengthening counselors’ digital competencies, developing ethical regulations, improving technological infrastructure, and maintaining the humanistic essence of counseling practices. The TECH-BK model offers a contextual framework that can guide schools, counselors, and policymakers in implementing effective and ethical digital counseling services.
